Sometimes the people we talk to about becoming a Big Brother feel overwhelmed by part of the job description: change a child’s life. They tell us it’s a lot of pressure, and they worry they won’t be able to have enough impact to really make a difference. While we can see where they’re coming from, we also know that sometimes the smallest things can have the largest impact on a child. They may be changes you can’t see, but they are still there, and they are still making a difference in the life of that child.
We know that kids do better when there is someone in their life who is CRAZY about them. You don’t have to be the worlds best teacher, or be the perfect role model, you just have to be willing to spend time with your Little – the rest tends to happen on its own.
Our Volunteer Recruitment and Training Facilitator, Lucas Porciello, is also a Big Brother. Below is a short video of him sharing one small way that being a Big made a difference.
